White Elephant Generator & Party Kit
Paste your players, hit randomize, and reveal the turn order one person at a time. The built-in gift tracker counts steals and freezes gifts when they hit the limit, so you can run the whole White Elephant game from one screen.

Popular variations

Gifts that get stolen most

- Funny but usable desk toys. See the gift ideas page for more.
Why a generator helps
The hardest part of hosting White Elephant isn't the gifts; it's keeping track. Who's next? How many times has the cozy blanket been stolen? Is it frozen yet? A paper list falls apart after the first steal chain. This tool keeps the turn order on screen, highlights whose turn it is, and shows every gift's steal count with a frozen badge when it reaches the limit. Put it on a TV or pass a phone around.
Everything runs in your browser and saves locally, so a refresh won't wipe your game. Nothing is uploaded, and there's no sign-up.
Choosing a steal limit
- 2 steals: fastest, good for 20+ players or short lunch breaks
- 3 steals: the classic and the most common
- 4 steals: more drama for small, competitive groups
- Unlimited: chaotic; only for groups who enjoy long games
White Elephant over Zoom
For remote parties, have everyone ship or deliver their gift to a host ahead of time, or use e-gift cards with a fun reveal. Share your screen with this tool so everyone can see the turn order and steal counts live. When a player "opens" a gift, the host (or the gift's owner on camera) reveals it.
White Elephant or Secret Santa?
White Elephant is a game: anyone can end up with any gift, and stealing is half the fun. Secret Santa is a matched exchange: each person buys one thoughtful gift for one specific person, often guided by a wishlist. Many offices do both. Use a Secret Santa draw for the thoughtful gifts and White Elephant for the party.
Game-night tips for the host
- Put the tool on a TV or laptop everyone can see; the current player and steal counts are big and readable.
- Agree the steal limit before you start. Three is classic, two is faster for big groups.
- Rename gifts in the tracker as they're opened (e.g. 'board game', 'candle') so steals are easy to follow.
- No immediate steal-backs: when your gift is stolen, open a new one or steal a different gift.
- For 20+ players, set a limit of two and consider a five-minute timer so the game finishes on time.
- Print or copy the order if you want a paper backup in case the laptop sleeps.
Prefer a Secret Santa instead?
White Elephant is a party game: everyone brings one wrapped gift and the fun is in the stealing. Secret Santa is a gift exchange: each person buys for one specific person and the giver stays secret. If you want thoughtful gifts rather than chaos, start a free Secret Santa draw below; participants get wishlists and AI gift ideas.
